The Story Behind Rolando Mendoza hostage taking

Ten hours of terror.  

That's how the hostage taking crisis yesterday could be

well described.  A dismissed police officer, Rolando Mendoza, conducted such at

Quirino Grandstand yesterday, about 10 in the morning in a tourist bus with

about 26 passengers, 22 were Chinese Nationals. 


But what is the story behind

the commotion that caused approximately 8 casualties (and growing) for his

former colleagues can be described as passionate, kind, and respectful police

officer such as Mr. Mendoza?


Reports stated that Mr. Mendoza was an exemplary police officer.  He recieves

difference awards such as "Medalya ng Papuri, Kagalingan, Paglilingkod" and the

like.  About almost 3 decades of service, Mendoza was one of the suspected and

dismissed officers of a certain Christian Kalaw complaint threatening him for

violation of RA 9165 forcing him to pay Php 200,000 to be released.  The

Ombudsman's decision for the 5 officers to be dismissed allegedly the reason

for Mendoza to do such heinous crime. 

"He just wanted to be heard and given the right justice"  as some speculators

says.



With the vision of all of this, would you think it is a good reason to kill

lives of innocent foreigners and kababayans to be heard?  And for the SWAT

members who reponded the site, do you think they're that experienced enough to

handle the commotion yesterday?  You decide, my fellowmen.

State of the Nation Address SONA 2010: President Benigno "Noynoy" S. Aquino III

It's pretty amazing how this topic booms yesterday on the top search engines like Yahoo and Google and some social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and Purple Thumb. But actually, all political stuff bores me..yawn...Kidding aside, I think the yesterday's State of the Nation Address is quite interesting, pretty ambitious and promising - IPP (remember that). So whenever the film John Tucker Must Die aired at ETC Channel 21 had several commercials, I switched the T.V unto President Noy's litany address.

Here were some points that catched my attention:

1. The agony of the "daang baluktot" at "daang matuwid"

2. The obvious corruption of the previous previous and previous...regimen.

3. Calamity Funds, Pampanga, Pangasinan, local budgets were as high as heaven but affects the common people as hell.

4. MWSS, NAPOCOR, Landbank at Development Bank of the Philippines purchasing MRT, NFA rice scams

My vision:

1. I'll support P-Noy's move against poverty, corruption, and pretentions.

2. Hope all the criminals, corrupt, and negativity of the past government will soon be eliminated.

3. I'll soon applied for a position at MWSS and soon I'll be one of the Board of Trustees. Who knows, one of these days I'd be seating at the Board Committee meeting with P14,000 on hand, grocery incentive of P80,000 per year. Whohooo!

4. I'm not gonna use wang-wang for I will be penalized. But oh, how about those cold nights? Well, I'm thinking about the different "wang" wang. Kidding.

..and I aim for the impossible. But I'm not losing hope! :)

Pangarap sa Bayan

"Kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap"

Isa 'to sa mga linyang tumatak sa'kin nung campaign period. Pinagdudutdutan ng kandidato na korapsyon ang dahilan ng kahirapan. Kaya nga pumatok din yung sabi ng isang kandidato na,

"Pangarap kong iahon kayo sa kahirapan"

Pero kung iisipin, bakit nga ba may kahirapan? Sabi nila ang mahirap daw ay yung mga taong hindi nakakakain ng tatlong beses maghapon. Yung ultimo paghanap ng panlaman-tiyan ay isang malaking pagsubok araw-araw. Tingin ko ang mga nangongorap ay kung hindi dahil takot silang maghirap eh ayaw ng bumalik sa kahirapan. Kahirapan din ang nag-uudyok sa mga magnanakaw, holdaper, budol-budol, at kung anu-ano pang modus operandi na maiisip maipantawid-buhay. May mga tao ring nabubulok sa bilangguan. Dahilan ang kakapusang pampinansyal pambayad ng abogado o dahil nalagyan na ang mga dapat huhukom sa ilang inosenteng bilanggo. Marami ring lumalalang karamdaman o pinapanawan ng buhay dahil walang maipampa-ospital o dili kaya'y pampagamot man lang. Ang mag-aral sa panahong ito ay isa na lamang prebilehiyo at di na isang karapatan. Sa mga pinagpala, eksklusibong paaralan at magagarang pasilidad ang natatamasa. Samantalang sa ilan, ikapitong bundok pa ang tatahakin makaamot man lang ng kaalaman sa mga magkaminsa'y mali-maling aklat-sulatin. Kahirapan din ang nagbubulid sa mga ama, ina, at maging mga anak na mangibam-bayan. Sinasa isang tabi ang personal na emosyon at mithiin kapalit ng halagang kikitain mo lamang sa kakatrabaho sa sariling bayan na walang inisip kundi ang makalamang sa iba. Ngunit sa lahat ng ito ang tanong ay,

"Ano na ba ang nagawa mo upang solusyunan ang kasalukuyang kinasasadlakan mo?"

"Ipagpapasa Diyos mo na lang ba ang lahat?"

Nasa ikalawang yugto ako ng hayskul ng maranasang magdahop. "Nay, ayaw pumasok ng kaning 'to eh." sabi ni bunso habang napipilitang kumain ng kaning may asukal. "Anong gusto mo, milo, 3-in-1 o asin? Sa tulong ng aking tiyahin, nakapagtapos kaming 2 magkapatid at si bunso naman ay malapit na ring magtapos. Kaming dalawa'y may kani-kaniyang permanenteng trabaho na kahit hindi kami nagtatamasa ng karangyaan, mas maalwan ang kasalukuyan naming pamumuhay.
